What slows your site down
Ranked by how much each one is likely to cost you in visitors and enquiries.
No major issues found. This page covers the basics well.
Scores come from a lab test and can move a few points between runs. Treat them as a guide: what matters in the end is whether the site brings you enquiries.
What the speed test measures
Speed is the first thing a visitor from Google experiences. The test loads the page you enter on a simulated mid-range phone over a mobile connection and reports four things.
Main content (LCP)
How long until the biggest part of the first screen, usually the main image or headline, is visible. Google calls this Largest Contentful Paint and wants it under 2.5 seconds.
Responsiveness
How long the page is frozen by scripts while it loads. In the lab this is Total Blocking Time; with real visitors Google measures Interaction to Next Paint (INP), which should stay under 200 ms.
Stability (CLS)
Whether text and buttons jump around as images and ads load. A shifting page causes mis-taps and feels unfinished. Google wants Cumulative Layout Shift under 0.1.
Page size
How much a phone has to download. Large images, autoplaying video and heavy third-party scripts are the usual reasons a small-business page weighs several megabytes.
How to read your scores
90–100
Good
The basics are in place. Small gains are still possible, but this is not what is holding you back.
50–89
Needs work
Visitors notice. Fixing the top issues usually brings the score up quickly.
0–49
Poor
This is likely costing you visitors and enquiries every day. Worth fixing first.
Questions about the speed test
Pricing Is the speed test free?
Yes, and it is anonymous: no email, no account. The results appear on the page straight away.
Where do the results come from?
We run Google Lighthouse, the same engine behind Google's PageSpeed Insights, on our own server. It loads your page on a simulated mid-range phone over a mobile connection, the way most visitors to a small-business site arrive.
What is a good mobile speed score?
90–100 is good, 50–89 needs work and under 50 is poor. The score is a summary; the individual measures (when the main content appears, how long the page is frozen, how much it jumps) tell you what to fix.
Why is my result different from PageSpeed Insights?
Lab tests vary with network and server load, so a few points between runs, or between tools, is normal. PageSpeed Insights also shows field data from real Chrome users when your site has enough visitors; that is what Google actually ranks on.
Does speed affect my Google ranking?
Page experience, including Core Web Vitals, is one of many signals Google uses, and it rarely beats relevant content on its own. The bigger effect is on people: a page that takes several seconds to show anything on a phone loses visitors before they see what you offer.
How do I make my website faster?
Usually: smaller, modern-format images, no autoplaying video on the first screen, fewer plugins and third-party scripts, and good hosting. Send us your result and we'll tell you what we'd fix first.
